We are vey happy ; )

España lidera el Grupo C y estará en cuartos de Final

Gran victoria de la Selección Española por 12-0 ante la selección de Canadá, una de las favoritas al triunfo final. Un ensayo de Bárbara Pla y otro de Berta García colocan a España primeras del grupo C.

La Selección Española Femenina se clasifica primera de grupo el primer día de la Copa del Mundo al vencer a Brasil (0-19), Canadá (0-12) y Tailandia (12-19). La primera plaza permite a la Selección evitar a Nueva Zelanda en Cuartos de Final. En su lugar le espera Sudáfrica, que ha quedado segunda de su grupo detrás de las "Black Fethers". Será mañana sábado a las 10:12 h. (Hora española).

SPAIN 19-12 THAILAND

Captain Raquel Socias (ESP)

On winning all three of their pool matches:

"It was our objective to win all our games but we were really concentrating on getting that second position. To finish up in top spot is really pleasing for us."

On Spain's chances of winning the tournament:

"We'll take it one step at a time. It looks like we'll play South Africa so we will rest up and prepare ourselves for that one."

On the efforts of Thailand:

"They move the ball very well, they find space and they have some quick runners."


CANADA 0-12 SPAIN

On the surprise win over Canada:

"We are surprised. We know we played well in our first game, we knew it would be a difficult game and we did not expect anything like this.

"We are vey happy. The first two games we won and now we expect after the last game to be first in the group."

On the loud celebrations after the win:

"Maybe we are happy because, with (victory against) Thailand we have the chance to be the first in the group."

On the victory:

"We feel very good because it's very important to start with a win and now our objective is to pass to the second round. We know Canada will be different to this game but we will try and get two wins today."

On whether there will be any changes for the next match against Canada:

"I don't know, this is how we play, but maybe our coach will feel that we have to change something."

On being at RWC Sevens 2009:

"We feel it is the most important tournament that we can play. It's very beautiful this place. We are very happy to be here and we want to make good rugby."
