Dura derrota de la selección andaluza frente a Euskadi

La selección andaluza femenina de rugby debutó en el Campeonato de España de selecciones territoriales visitando el terreno del quince vigente campeón, las chicas del seleccionado de Euskadi. Como era de esperar las vascas hicieron valer su mayor conjunción y ritmo de competición para hacerse con una clara victoria por 27-3 tras cinco ensayos materializados. Sin embargo, la expedición andaluza volvía con buen sabor de boca de su debut en el campeonato nacional de selecciones autonómicas.

Dirección técnica
El quince de Andalucía es un grupo con muchas novedades y con la nueva dirección de la dupla técnica de la selección masculina, José Ignacio Moreno y Hugo Serantes. Ambos se mostraban satisfechos después de lo realizado por el quince andaluz en terreno vitoriano. «Creo que ha salido todo bastante bien -comentaba Serantes- habida cuenta de la diferencia entre ambos equipos. Estamos muy satisfechos porque el equipo tiene mucho margen de mejora. Creo que en muchas facetas del juego hemos dejado una sensación inmejorable ante las vigentes campeonas de España», concluyó.

Próximo compromiso
La selección andaluza femenina jugará su próximo compromiso ante Navarra el próximo 21 de Abril en suelo andaluz.

Coincidiendo con el Campeonato Europeo, la Asociación de Rugby Femenino ARF realizará una serie de actividades enfocadas a jugadoras sub23 toda España.

Actividades:
- Convivencia
- Entrenamiento conjunto de todas las jugadoras
- Torneo sub23 y sub18
- Asistencia a los partidos del Campeonato Europeo

Podrán participar de las mismas cualquier jugadora menor de 23 años.

Ya tenemos un clasificado para la Copa de la Reina

A falta de una jornada, el equipo de rugby femenino de la UMA se ha proclamado campeón de liga de forma matemática.

El pasado domingo 11 de febrero se convirtió en un día histórico para el rugby femenino malagueño, ya que en la historia del equipo nunca antes se había logrado el título.

Las chicas dirigidas por Mentxu Hidalgo se alzaron con el título tras ganar al U.A.Sevilla y al Granada 2004, con un equipo mermado por bajas, pero que supo mantener el nivel de juego desarrollado a lo largo de toda la competición.
Se mantuvo el juego dinámico, con rucks rápidos que posibilitaban ganar metros fase a fase.

Una neozelandesa, primera mujer que arbitrará Seis Naciones femenino

La neozelandesa Nicky Inwood hará historia este fin de semana cuando se convierta en la primera mujer que arbitre un partido del torneo Seis Naciones de rugby femenino.

Inwood, de 37 años, dirigirá en Twickenhan (Inglaterra) el encuentro entre Inglaterra e Italia, preliminar del partido masculino entre los dos países.

Entre 1989 y 1991, Inwood representó a las "Black Ferns", la selección femenina de rugby de Nueva Zelanda, y ha arbitrado en las Copas del Mundo de Barcelona 2002 y Edmonton 2006.

This season marks the first time that the Women's and Men's Six Nation tournaments will run alongside each other.

With Italy replacing Spain the fixtures can now coincide with the men's internationals.

The tournament opens this weekend with a top lineup of action with all six countries involved. England are defending champions having completed a Grand Slam winning year last time around and will be favourites to retain their title.

However they will face strong competition especially from France and Wales. Wales, who finished second last year, only lost one game and that was to England as they claimed their best ever finish in the tournament. France meanwhile will be out to prove a point after losing in the World Cup semi finals and suffering a big lose to England last year.

Italy will make their debut in the Six Nations and may, like their male counterparts did, struggle to challenge - especially when you consider they lost 30-7 to Wales in November. Both Scotland and Ireland come into the tournament under new coaches and will be confident of causing an upset or two.

Wales present a tough challenge to Ireland as they are in fine form of late, with November victories over Italy (30-7) and Holland (24-0), and since their opening day defeat to England last year have won their last seven internationals so will head into Saturdays game with plenty of confidence.
